Space Country Classic

Space Country Classic returns to California’s Central Coast on May 9th, 2026.

The 5th edition of the SCC has the same amazing venue and course as 2025! The mountain bike course runs on trails that were built specifically with the race in mind, and after a winter of rains, they are spectacular! Lake Canyon trails provide 7.56 miles of short, sharp climbs, sweet descents, forest trails, and open vistas. Choose your distance, 1, 2, or 3 laps!

The Space Coast Gran Fondo will tour 75 miles of launch sites and stunning coasts from South to North, or opt for a shorter 50 miler. This year the course will climb the Santa Ynez Ridge Road topping out at 1,200 feet with a whopping 5,500 feet total elevation gain. The 50 mile route is more moderate at 3,500 feet total gain.

  • Registration is now open 
  • Active-Duty Military and dependents receive a $10 discount.
  • Early Bird discount of $5 ends at midnight 31 March.
  • You can change categories, but you must pay the difference. Transfers to another athlete and deferrals of registration for a future event are permitted. All changes must be completed before race day. We cannot provide refunds.

About the Courses

Space Coast Gran Fondo

The Space Coast Gran Fondo is a timed event that covers 50 and 75 miles. It is not a USA Cycling event, so no license is required.
The race starts at 8:45 a.m. Registration categories are Open Men and Women. After the race, the top three male and female finishers will be awarded.

MTC XC Course

The MTC XC Course is 7.5 miles and has an elevation gain of 1,045 ft. This course offers three categories:

Cat 1 – Expert

Cat 2 – Intermediate/Sport

Cat 3 – Beginner/Novice

Awards will be given for the Top 3 Men and Women Finishers in each category.

Important Information

Getting Base Access

All Non-Base Affiliated attendees must pick up a base pass before attempting to enter through the gate. From Santa Maria: Turn left before the stop light at the main gate to Vandenberg Middle School Address: 1145 Mountain View Blvd, Vandenberg SFB, CA

Check-in will be 7:00 am to 8:30 am on Saturday, May 9th. Everyone over 16 must have a REAL ID with you to receive your base pass. Once you have obtained your pass, drive up to the gate, show your ID/IDs, and the gate guard will check that you are on the list. Let the guard know you are on the Space Country Classic EAL.

You must have your base pass & ID with you at all times.

0700 – 0830 Base Pass pickup @ Vandenberg Middle school 1145 Mountain View Blvd

0700 – 0845 Packet Pick up @ VSFB Parade Grounds (Pick up your timing chip, race bib, and race kit at VSFB Parade Grounds). All participants over 16 must sign waivers and present picture ID at packet pick-up. Click Here for Parade Grounds Coordinates!

0840: Gran Fondo Saftey Breif (Mandatory)

0845: Gran Fondo Start (50 & 75 mile)
