The Vandenberg community is encouraged to attend the Jr. Cardboard Reggatta Camp Races to cheer on the youth campers during the races on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1300

Youth Programs Jr. Cardboard Regatta Camp Ages 10+: June 24-27: Youth are working in teams of 3 to build a boat using cardboard and duct tape that they will race in at the base pool on Friday, June 28! Prizes will be available for the top 3 fastest teams and 1 prize for the most creative boat design.

Race Day Info:
12-1245: Boats will be judged on its design, artistic qualities, originality and team's enthusiasm.

1300-end of races:  Each boat team will race against another team in one mini heat per boat, for a total of 2 boats per race, from one length of the pool to the other (2 youth will be in the boat, 1 youth will push the boat off at the start of the race). 

PLEASE INFORM the Youth Center if your child does not have transportation to the base pool for  RACE Day so we may transport them. Parents are encouraged to transport their children to the pool 
for the races.

Youth and families will be attending the event. 

Awards to follow the conclusion of the races:
Regatta winner. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded for the boats that touch the finish line edge of the pool with 2 crew members inside and intact
boat. Prizes will be awarded to each team, to include a total of 3 individual top prizes for each team for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team with the fastest race time.
1 top prize for most creative and spirit award (Each team will be judged on boat design, artistic qualities, originality, and team’s enthusiasm.)

Picnic lunch for youth camp members to follow the races (ham/turkey/cheese sandwiches, chips, fruits and water) Families of youth camp members please inform Youth Programs of any food allergies prior to the start of the camp week.

Rec swim to follow the races for youth campers until 1600
